So tonight I had a nice looooong conversation with Amazon Customer Service. I had ordered a piece of equipment for a shoot I have lined up next week, and UPS brought it today! Like most guys, when UPS brings a new toy, you have to go home and play with it, so I figured rather than head out for another landscape, I would do a shot at home, using the new gear.
So I headed home after work, grabbed the box, and excitedly opened it up! Then I saw it......the wrong item!!
I realize mistakes sometimes happen, but it always sucks when it's
something that you ordered to do a job, and now you're unsure if you
will be able to get a replacement before the upcoming shoot. I hurried
to Amazon to grab the customer service number, and see what could be
done to remedy the situation......
Amazon is based out of Lexington Kentucky, but unfortunately, their customer service is not! I had to explain the situation 3 times, before the rep finally understood my dilemma. He then proceeded to tell me that there was nothing he could do about it!
After about 45 minutes of talking, I was finally able to get it through to him, that if Amazon couldn't fix the problem, I would no longer be entrusting them with my business when accuracy was at stake. I also informed him that I would ensure that all of my family, friends, coworkers and colleagues, and everyone reading my blog, would know not to send business Amazon's way either. Suddenly, my issue was resolved!
So tonight, unfortunately, I was unable to make it out to shoot, so I had to dig through my extensive archives for a photo, and a story......
It was a few years ago, the Red Bull Air Race was coming to town. I tried to make it out the previous year, but ended up having to work, so I was doing everything I could to try and make it down there!
About a week before, I received a phone call from my friend Chris. His sister, Theresa, had a friend with a boat, and they were headed to the races, and he wanted to know if I wanted to go! Hell Yeah!!
Which day are you going, I asked......June 14th, your birthday!! Bonus!
So we met up at a marina in Wyandotte, and headed down the river towards Detroit. We passed under the Ambassador Bridge, and found a spot along the river to drop anchor.
Just before the start of the race, press helicopters moved in, one of which hovered just overhead from where the boat was anchored. I snapped this photo with my old Fuji. Kind of reminds me of the opening of M.A.S.H.
The race was awesome....if you ever have the opportunity, definitely check it out! Best birthday I've had in a long time!
